Phayre

About

A talented actress and comedian, Janice Phayre has made a splash on the comedy circuit in the last few years with her highly energetic and exciting stand up style. A favourite with audiences and promoters alike, Janice has played clubs all across the UK and Europe. She was a finalist at the 2005 Hackney Empire New Act of the Year Awards and also a finalist at the 2004 J20 Jongleurs Comedy Awards.

Janice co-wrote and performed in the acclaimed show Freedumb with Phil Nichol at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2004, and they also took the show to the Melbourne Comedy Festival in 2005.

Janice is also well known to audiences across the country as part of the popular double act Susan and Janice, who performed at the Edinburgh Fringe from 2000-2002. Janice was also a regular cast member of the highly esteemed sketch team “Ealing Live”.

“A skilled actress, Phayre dominates the room through sheer force of personality, bursting onto the stage with an explosion of nervous energy…With energised, impish charm, she passionately describes, and mimes the reactions that news receives shrieking, like her compatriot Graham Norton, with mock-outrage at her own boldness…she's simply a force to be reckoned with.”
Chortle

“slim, petite, extremely impish, and shows off some of her bottom. It's the start of a blissfully funny set…as much naughtiness as she can get away with (a lot). It's all delivered from a wholly innocent-looking (though mischievous as a pixie's) face - breathlessly - with large round eyes accessorised by remarkably mobile eyebrows. Wonderful, just fabulous.”
