About
Ben first came to prominence as one half of Ben And Arn, winning the Perrier Best Newcomer Award for The Ben 'n' Arn Show at the Edinburgh Festival in 1998.
The short film Tooty’s Wedding which Ben co-wrote, co-produced, and co-starred won the 2011 LA Shorts Film Festival for Best Short, the Grand Jury Prize for Best Comedy at the Rhode Island Film Festival, and the Best Foreign Film and Best Director at the LA Comedy Festival. This year it's showing at the Sundance Film Festival and is nominated for the Sundance Shorts Award.
His other film roles include Your Highness with James Franco and Danny McBride, Cemetery Junction, written and directed by Stephen Merchant and Ricky Gervais, Starter For Ten, I Want Candy, Click and St Trinian's.
In 2011 Ben co-wrote and performed in the Horrible Histories BBC Proms live at The Royal Albert Hall, and filmed the fourth series of Horrible Histories on CBBC. In addition, Ben’s work included an online sitcom campaign for Phillips called Nigel And Victoria, where he played the role of Nigel, and recorded the fifth series of ‘Giles Wemmbley Hogg Goes Off’ for BBC Radio 4.
Ben’s TV appearances include all series of Horrible Histories (CBBC), series one and the second forthcoming of Rev, The Thick Of It (BBC Two), Extras **(BBC one), **Lead Balloon (BBC Two), The Catherine Tate Show (BBC Two), and Black Books (Channel 4).
For Radio 4, Ben has written and co-starred in the sitcoms Double Science and Deep Trouble, Talking And Not Talking, The Maltby Collection, three series of Recorded For Training Purposes, all for BBC Radio 4, two episodes of Stephen Fry’s English Delight series one and two for BBC Radio 4, and Another Case Of Milton Jones for BBC Radio 4.
2008 saw Ben star alongside co-writers Laura Solon and Marek Larwood in Laura, Ben and Him, their acclaimed multi-character sketch show for ITV2.
