About

Roann began his broadcasting career as a BBC Journalism trainee, going on to work for FIVE LIVE and BBC Radio Sport as a Broadcast Journalist. He then went on to present ‘Kickin Off' for the BBC Asian Network, taking over from Radio One's Nihal. In television, he has worked across a number of BBC regions, reporting on a broad range of sports, including the Premier League, International cricket and more extreme sports like BMX and down-hilling.

In 2007 he moved to ITN to become one of the core presenters on the new, 24-hour Setanta Sports News Channel. In the spring and summer of 2008 he trained for, and completed both the New York Marathon and the San Diego International Triathlon, where he finished in the top 50 in his age category. Both formed part of a series of short documentaries for Setanta. More recently, he reported on the Joe Calzaghe World Title fight with Roy Jones Junior in New York.

Roann currently combines his studio work with the development of a number of new projects. He has just finished work on a new Inside Out programme about mixed-race for the BBC, and is authoring a documentary on the Lake of Stars - a festival in Malawi run entirely by volunteers.
