Proving that there’s life in the old dog, off JENNY ECLAIR goes again with a brand new stand-up show. Having dug up some fresh new comedy bones, the Perrier Award winner and self-appointed Grumpy Head Girl is back, wagging her arthritic tail and will be performing Old Dog, New Tricks across 46 UK dates from 15th September 2010 until 19th February 2011. This autumn also sees the release of JENNY’s new book, Chin Up Britain: Restoring Common Sense to the Nation, on 4th October.
JENNY is fifty years old which in dog years would qualify for The Guinness Book of Records. Having recently been de-wormed and with her teeth newly bleached, she’ll be prancing around the regions, basically doing her comedy tricks for a ‘nice biscuit and maybe a glass of Chardonnay’, proving yet again that she’s got what it takes to be an award winner (Crufts 1982).
Don’t expect anything that involves balancing stuff on her nose or jumping through hoops, her hips are too big and she has a tendency to fall over. However do expect a Lady Gaga tribute and possibly some dancing on her back legs. Plus some young male pup support from recent fashionable litter. Good Dog Jenny!
JENNY ECLAIR has been a stand up comic since the last millennium: she was the first woman to win the coveted Perrier Award and hasn’t stopped banging on about it ever since. She is also the Grumpy Old Women Team Captain, having co-written and starred in the live versions of the show. Additionally she has done ’acting’ on Skins and The Bill and is an acclaimed writer (sometimes it’s nice to just sit down), author of Camberwell Beauty and Having a Lovely Time and non fiction books including The Book of Bad Behaviour, Grumpy Old Couples and Wendy: The Bumper Book of Fun for Women of a Certain Age (the latter two were co-written with Judith Holder).

What the press said about Jenny’s 2007/08 tour, Because I Forgot To Get A Pension
“It is hard to imagine anyone making greater comic capital of midlife alarm than Eclair.”
Brian Logan, The Guardian
“Some of the best one liners you’ll hear this year…
the sold-out crowd adored every vulgar, self obsessed quip.”
Bruce Dessau, Evening Standard
“The one-liners she sprays out so liberally are often absolute crackers.”
Dominic Maxwell, The Times
“An event that both entertains and informs.
In one show, Jenny Eclair delivers both sharp gags and financial advice.
Who knows, it may save you money in the long run.”
Alun Palmer, The Mirror
