GREG DAVIES, one-third of Edinburgh Comedy Award-nominated We Are Klang and star of BAFTA-winning show The Inbetweeners, is to embark on a national tour with his Edinburgh Comedy Award nominated stand-up show Firing Cheeseballs At A Dog. Beginning 2nd October, the 39-date tour will see GREG play venues nationwide until 10th December.

Can a chance encounter with a stray Spanish dog and a bag of crisps lead to an epiphany and a fresh approach to life? No of course it can't, but is that a reason not to build an entire show around it? Finding himself firing cheeseballs at a dog, GREG reached the entirely sensible conclusion that we will all be a lot happier if we simply ignore difficult emotional issues in favour of a celebration of the pointless. Asking questions that can't be answered is a short cut to unhappiness. GREG has no interest in why we are here, doesn’t know why your boyfriend treats you like that and can’t offer any insight into how to be a good parent, but he does know why that kid got that nickname, what Satan’s genitals look like and why his dad is choosing to act like a mental. This show will be the first ever to attempt to chronicle an entire life without offering even the slightest insight into the human condition, every significant incident forensically removed to leave only the lean meat of the trivial.

Best known for his part as Mr. Gilbert in award-winning comedy The Inbetweeners (E4 and Channel 4), GREG is soon to appear as a team captain on the new BBC One show Ask Rhod Gilbert. GREG has also appeared on: 8 Out Of 10 Cats (Channel 4), Mock The Week (BBC Two), Never Mind The Buzzcocks (BBC Two), and The World Stands Up, Edinburgh and Beyond and The Comedy Store (all Comedy Central). As a stand-up, GREG has won Best Newcomer at the Laughing Horse and Metro Comedy awards, and reached the final of Channel 4’s So You Think You’re Funny contest. WE ARE KLANG made their eponymous debut series for BBC THREE last summer, and have also appeared on Saturday Night Live Again (ITV1). They have performed four critically-acclaimed sell-out Edinburgh shows, and won the Spirit of the Fringe Award for their debut in 2004. In addition to their 2006 Edinburgh Comedy Award nomination, they were nominated for the prestigious Barry Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival in 2007.

PRAISE FOR FIRING CHEESEBALLS AT A DOG:

“Davies weaves a magnificent web. Fact or fiction, he sells the whole show, frequently leaving you helpless with laughter.”
Julian Hall, The Independent

“A hilarious but touching résumé of his life so far … a wonderfully feelgood show that demands repeated viewings.”
Veronica Lee, The Sunday Telegraph

“Greg Davies doesn't look like he'll be struggling for work. Not only is he part of a cult sitcom success thanks to his role as sadistic head of sixth form Mr Gilbert in Channel 4's The Inbetweeners, but his Edinburgh fringe show has also one of this year's most talked-about. Eschewing any grand themes or narrative arcs, Firing Cheeseballs At A Dog is an hour of deliberately unconnected autobiographical stories. Davies says that he's often felt his life has been free of consequence or meaning, so he's structured his show in the same way, allowing each bizarre episode to speak for itself. It's a genius move, helping us to focus on the comic's eye for weird detail and infectious, energetic storytelling style.”
James Kettle, The Guardian

“His show revels in the joy of spontaneous foolishness ... boisterous, sometimes fruity, but always in a carefree spirit of enjoying the moment, assuming no consequences. In such an atmosphere, laughter thrives, and this show produces guffaws like few others.”
Steve Bennett, Mail on Sunday

“Quite simply, this is one of the most joyous hours of stand-up I have seen in a very long time … It's just about as perfect a Fringe show as you could ask for, with one of the most giving performers out there.”
Laura Adshead, British Comedy Guide

“Ridiculously funny from start to finish … a complete triumph.”
Tim Arthur, Time Out Live

“He stands both head and shoulders above the competition, both literally and figuratively”
Graeme Strachan, British Theatre Guide

“This could be the best one-hour solo show this year. On this performance, its not just height that makes Davies stand above his fellow comedians.”
Chris Aitken, Fresh Air

“Such a superb raconteur that it is impossible not to warm to him. Like meeting up with an old friend with a life-time's worth of funny stories, it may not be edgy, but it is eminently enjoyable.”
Georgia Galastro, Three Weeks

“For all his protestations, there is actually a message here - and it’s the very simple one of savouring every moment that makes you happy, however stupid. This ultimate feelgood show is so jam-packed with such moments, you’d be a fool to miss it.”
Steve Bennett, Chortle

“Davies is one of those people who infect you with their energy… I can give no higher praise than to say that this is a show I didn’t want to end, and which I wanted to see again immediately it did.”
Veronica Lee, The Arts Desk

“This is a startlingly accomplished debut that scores big on the all important, instinctive, belly laugh-o-meter.”
Julian Hall, The Stage

“It’s an engaging, oddly touching hour.”
Dominic Cavendish, Daily Telegraph

“A well-developed and magnetic set.”
Claire Sawers, The List

PRAISE FOR WE ARE KLANG LIVE:

“This is stupid comedy done with great intelligence…Buy, borrow or steal to see this uproarious sketch trio in the funniest show on the fringe.”
Dominic Maxwell, The Times

“I have seen the future of comedy and it is We Are Klang."
Bruce Dessau, Evening Standard

“A chaotic masterclass in physical clowning.”
Stephen Armstrong, The Sunday Times

“Non-stop boisterous fun delivered with such gloriously effervescent excess that it's impossible to resist. Nowhere on the Fringe will you hear a room ringing with such volume of uncontrollable, guttural laughter as when the Klang gang are in full flow. And they are always in full flow. They are, simply, the best idiots in Britain.”
Steve Bennett, Chortle

“This trio have to be the most enjoyable combination since sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll … breathtaking comic firepower.”
Kate Copstick, The Scotsman

"Delicious touches all through the show... anarchic and hilarious."
Julian Hall, The Independent

“Klangbang [is] … like being walloped on the head with a large inflatable hammer, but in a good way.”
Sharon Lougher, Metro

“The crowd quickly realises that it's in for something special, in all senses of the word …The range of characters is vast … the laughs here are constant and warmly honest.”
Sian Bevan, The List
