Internationally acclaimed stand-up CRAIG CAMPBELL - currently supporting FRANKIE BOYLE on his record breaking 120-date tour and recently seen on Michael McIntyre’s Comedy Roadshow (BBC One) and Russell Howard’s Good News (BBC Three) - is to embark on his first UK tour. Exploding onto the road in spring 2011 with his trademark brand of inventive storytelling, the comic will play venues nationwide from 22nd February 2010.
CRAIG‘s a known ‘outdoor adventurer’ of comedy; stand up oddly is one of the few things he does inside. Typically dressed in his beloved ‘I love cheese’ t-shirt (synthetic and a bit wiffy) and a khaki (undercover police concealment) shorts number, sometimes substituted for leather trousers, the strapping ex-athlete commands his stages with vigor. As an instinctive entertainer, CRAIG brings his characteristic wit, talkative charm and animated manner to stories about his travels; befriending the audience with accents and boisterous reenactments.
A natural raconteur, CRAIG CAMPBELL is able to find humour in the mundane, instinctively able to entertain and amuse. A Fringe favourite, CRAIG made his debut appearing alongside TONY LAW and DAN ANTOPOLSKI as part of comedy trio The Dinks. Their debut Edinburgh show in 2003 was both a critical and box office success, leading to an invitation to perform in the Best Of Edinburgh programme in New York. Following another successful Edinburgh visit with The Dinks, CRAIG took his first solo show to the Festival. Since then, CRAIG has supported RICH HALL on his international tour and had two further successful solo shows in Edinburgh. 2008 saw CRAIG depart from his traditional stand-up, when he wrote and performed his own, innovative, one-man play, Mr Eyetwister.
Once the notorious host of Canada's legendary Ed's Night Party, and headline guest on numerous Canadian TV shows such as Jim Carrey Live, The Dennis Miller Show and Just for Laughs, CRAIG has also appeared as presenter of Sky One's hit series From Wimps to Warriors, recorded Comedy Cuts (ITV2), Mitch Benn's Musical Comedy Show (BBC Radio 4), Out To Lunch (BBC Radio 2), Comedy Shuffle (BBC Three), Comedy Blue and Edinburgh and Beyond (both for Comedy Central).
