JENNY ECLAIR is back on the road with a brand new stand-up tour Eclairious, following the success of her sell-out 2010 tour, Old Dog, New Tricks, which was extended due to popular demand. The 38 date tour starts on the 29th September. Tickets are available from 9.00am this Friday, 9th March 2012.
Welcome to JENNY ECLAIR’s new show Eclairious, after thirty years in the business she should vaguely know what she’s doing? Professional Grumpy Old Woman, writer and panto star, ECLAIR has been round the block that many times she’s lost count. You may recognise her from Loose Women (ITV1) where she is happy to be one of ‘the coven’, she is also a Pilates Ninja and a disgrace in her own kitchen. Touring as a stand-up gives ECLAIR enormous pleasure, it also gives her dreadful varicose veins, but most importantly it gives her partner (St. Geof) a bit of a break.
JENNY ECLAIR has been a stand-up comic since the last millennium: she was the first woman to win the coveted Perrier Award and hasn’t stopped banging on about it ever since. Apart from the stand-up and TV presenting she is an acclaimed writer (sometimes it’s nice to just sit down), her third novel Life, Death & Vanilla Slices is out this July. Christmas 2011 saw JENNY take to the stage in her first pantomime season as the Fairy Godmother in Cinderella at The Richmond Theatre. Previously JENNY has co-written and starred in Grumpy Old Women Live 2: Chin Up Britain on Tour in London’s West End and has starred in a number of other West End productions including Steaming, Mum’s The Word and The Vagina Monologues. JENNY came third in I’m a Celebrity Get Me Out of Here (ITV1) and has done ‘acting’ on Holby City (BBC One) and Skins (E4). Her other television credits include The Apprentice: You’re Fired! (BBC Two), That Sunday Night Show (ITV1), The Chase: Celebrity Special (ITV1), Antiques Road Trip: Children in Need Special (BBC Two) and as a memorable contestant on both Celebrity Fame Academy (BBC One) and Let’s Dance for Sport Relief, (BBC One), where she reached the final alongside fellow Grumps SUSIE BLAKE, LESLEY JOSEPH and LINDA ROBSON. JENNY has hosted her own show on LBC radio, and is a regular contributor on shows such as BBC Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour and Just a Minute. She is also the author of Chin Up, Britain, The Book of Bad Behaviour and the co-author with JUDITH HOLDER of Grumpy Old Couples, and Wendy: The Bumper Book of Fun for Women of a Certain Age.
What the press said about Old Dog, News Tricks:
Clive Davies, The Times
“Every comic plays to their demographic, but the directness of Eclair’s confessions, crude but usually justified, will appeal beyond the target market… she deploys the well-established attitude and techniques to enjoyable effect. Good dog.”
Steve Bennett, Chortle
Eclairious will run from 29th September - 12th December 2012
