"Clear, pure storytelling... I enjoyed every moment." Snipe
HELEN O’BRIEN’s debut solo one-woman show Bronagh’s Big Weekend draws on her experiences of growing up in Oldham in an Irish family. It tells the story of one big weekend in a teenage girl’s life. It’s a comedy about a mad weekend in a mad family; from The Irish Dancing National Championships to being a bridesmaid at a family wedding and her 13th birthday. Think Four Weddings and a Funeral with Irish dancing and restraining orders. The show kicks off at The Lowry, Salford on 20th April 2012.
BBC Comedy Award Winner, HELEN O’BRIEN is an accomplished performer and writer. She began her career as a member of The Durham Revue comedy group, before joining Off The Ground Theatre Company, where she starred in a large number of productions including Romeo and Juliet, Wyrd Sisters and Witches Abroad. Here she also played the lead role of Rita in Educating Rita. HELEN has performed in and written for sketch shows at The Edinburgh Festival including Innocent Bystanders and Domestic Goddi.
