GRÁINNE MAGUIRE brings her brand new solo show Where Are All the Fun Places and Are Lots of People There Having Better Fun? to the Edinburgh Festival this year. Do you always worry that you’re missing out on all the fun, that the real action is elsewhere, that everyone else is having a better time than you? GRÁINNE has spent her entire life trying to be where the action is; moving to the big city, trying to hang out with the “it” gang and gate crashing the 2011 Labour Party conference. Luckily she knows as much about the shadow cabinet as she does about CHERYL COLE’S hairstyle choices. A lot. Why at a time when we have never been poorer are we bombarded with even more images of privileged orange people having a better time than us? GRÁINNE’S not asking to be the next KATE MIDDLETON, she just wants two simple things from life: to sing ‘Don’t Go Breaking My Heart’ with PETER MANDELSON and always to be where the fun times roll. Is that really too much to ask?
GRÁINNE MAGUIRE is a regular writer for 8 Out of 10 Cats (Channel 4), Now Show (BBC Radio 4) and News Quiz (BBC Radio 4), and has written for The Independent, Total Politics and The Evening Standard.
